Corrugated sheets are panels with a wavy (corrugated) cross-section. Their core characteristics are light weight, high strength, and low cost, and they are mainly used in fields such as building envelopes and packaging & transportation. They are divided into two major categories—metal corrugated sheets and non-metal corrugated sheets—based on material.
一. Core Classification (by Material)
1. Metal Corrugated Sheets
Made by rolling thin steel plates (as the base material) into a corrugated shape, they are the mainstream type in the construction field. Common subdivisions include:
– Galvanized Corrugated Sheets: With galvanized steel coils as the base material, they offer mild corrosion resistance and are suitable for temporary buildings and indoor partition walls.
– Aluminum-Zinc Coated Corrugated Sheets: Using aluminum-zinc coated steel coils as the base material, they have strong weather resistance (with an outdoor service life of 10-20 years) and are used for roofs and exterior walls of long-term buildings.
– Color-Coated Corrugated Sheets: The base material (galvanized/aluminum-zinc coated steel coils) is covered with a colored coating, providing both corrosion resistance and decorativeness. They are widely used for roofs and walls of factories, warehouses, and prefabricated houses.
2. Non-Metal Corrugated Sheets
Made from materials such as plastic, paperboard, and glass fiber, they are mostly used for packaging or in specific scenarios:
– Corrugated Cardboard: Composed of face paper and corrugated medium bonded together, it is mainly used for carton packaging, featuring light weight and good cushioning performance.
– Plastic Corrugated Sheets (Hollow Sheets): Made of PP/PE materials, they are waterproof and impact-resistant, used for packaging of electronic accessories and turnover boxes.
– Glass Fiber Corrugated Sheets: Corrosion-resistant and light-transmitting, they are used for greenhouses and daylighting belts in workshops.
二. Core Advantages
– High Strength: The wavy structure can disperse stress, improving compression and bending resistance by 3-5 times compared to flat plates of the same thickness, enabling it to bear loads from rain and snow.
– Light Weight: Metal corrugated sheets have a thickness of only 0.12-0.8mm and a weight of approximately 5-15kg/㎡, allowing for easy installation and reducing building load-bearing.
– High Cost-Effectiveness: The production process is simple, material utilization rate is high, and metal types are recyclable, resulting in low long-term use costs.
– Easy Processing: They can be cut, drilled, and bent according to requirements to fit different building sizes or packaging specifications.
三. Main Application Scenarios
– Construction Field: Roofs of factories/warehouses, exterior wall envelopes, prefabricated houses, temporary enclosures, and roofs of light steel villas.
– Packaging Field: Cartons (corrugated cardboard), cushioning packaging for electronics/home appliances (plastic corrugated sheets), and logistics turnover boxes.
– Special Scenarios: Daylighting for greenhouses (glass fiber corrugated sheets) and transportation pallets for auto parts (metal/plastic corrugated sheets).
